ABUJA, APRIL 3, 2020: Sequel to requests by Nigerians stranded abroad in the wake of the Coronavirus pandemic, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has directed all its missions abroad to compile lists of willing nationals who wanted to come back home.
According to Hon. Abike Dabiri-Erewa, Chairman/CEO Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM), the interested Nigerians are advised to inform the missions in the various countries they are in, who will then collate and coordinate with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
She, however, said that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has instructed that the financial implications will be borne by the prospective evacuees, who will be compulsorily quarantined when they return.
To this end, Hon. Abike Dabiri-Erewa urged Nigerians stranded abroad willing to return home to key into this Federal Government gesture by providing their information to the mission in their respective host countries.
She noted that while embassies in several countries are also on lockdown, those interested could also go online and fill a form provided on the commission’s website: https://nidcom.gov.ng/form101/

I’m right here in Saudi Arabia and I honestly Want to return back, just got this info today, and it’s really quiet devastating that the form has been closed, please I need to return home asap, it’s really so important. Thank you
We are 31 Nigerian on a visit to Pakistan but got stranded there because of the pandemic, so we need a copy of form to be filled for the evacuation back to Nigeria. Pls kindly get us a copy.thanks
Hello sir/ma,
I want to commend the efforts of the organising committee of the evatuation
Lets first af all forget about the return ticket money paid before and run for our dear life first. when there is life, there is hope to recover the money in thousands fold but safety first.
Please, help us as many other countries did for their citizens. we want to leave here but no means except through your intervention. if its just this once, lets benefit something from the country called ours. we are representing Nigeria here without the help of the government. but this time around, lets be happy for once to be called Nigerians.
We got the information about the form very late. we are just pleading to the government to open it again. we are ready for the qurantine even if you want it to be one month, we just want to leave here first. the number of those that contacted the virus is increasing here in Turkey everyday, before they start using foreigners as a practical to test their drugs, come to our aid please.
Despite the fact that I called the number on the site but quite unfortunate that the woman that picked it sounds unpatrotic, we still appreciate your efforts. Though, I guess she passed personal aggression to us in diaspora the way she responded and even banged the phone on me without even allowed me to say a word but just picked it and said all manner of things and ended the call. remember, this pandemic is not our making neither the cause of it. they should also know that we never mounted any pressure on them last year when there was nothing like this.
thanks so much for your help

Hello..
May I say that the request for a COVID test is not only meaningless, but also almost impossible to carry out here in the UK. For one, the UK government advise is that people should stay indoors in their homes and wherever they are lodged during this lock-down period, and avoid going out as much as possible. This is obviously to prevent the spread or possibility of catching the COVID virus.
Obviously if the Nigerian government is insisting that potential evacuees should do the test before being evacuated, you are then asking these evacuees to go against the lock-down rules here in the UK in this particular instance. This is also very significant because the possibility of getting this done on the NHS is almost ZERO! And this is true of both UK citizens and Non-UK citizens as well! So which then begs the question…..How can this be a practical request from the Nigerian government in the first place? Was much thought put into this particular request?
And please do not even suggest using private doctors! That even makes things worse, because you are then looking at asking these poor evacuees to then be prepared to spend even more money, in addition to all the added expenses that they are already going through since the lock-down……
The reality is the COVID test is irrelevant! You are evacuating people from a supposed ‘dangerous’ situation. What are you going to do if a potential evacuee tests positive? Are you going to abandon such people and say they cannot go back to their own country? The onus is on the Nigerian government to evacuate all citizens that wants to be evacuated! You cannot select which Nigerian citizen is good enough or otherwise to be evacuated.

Please what are the credentials needed so that I can forward mine on time.
Thanks for your cooperation
Good Afternoon, I’m stranded here in the UK and I just got to know about the online form to submit but the registration is now closed. What do I need to do at this point as I really need to go back home?
Please lets also note that most of these Nigerians already have various non refundable return tickets with airlines which the airport closure has prevented usage. Why cant the Nigerian government compel these airlines to refund the tickets which will not be utilised, the country does not need to over burden it’s own.
Please how much is to be paid? Because I don’t have cash. If the federal government is willing to help then let it be free please. Thank you
We just found out about the online portal, however our children tried logging in yesterday to fill in their details but it says registration closed.
They are students in Cyprus and there are quite a number.
When will you re open for students to fill in their details?
Will appreciate your response on this please.

Hello Zaharadeen, all you need to do for now is to fill the form nidcomForm101 and we will contact you via email soon.
In response to your directive to Zaharadeen above, I am a fellow Nigerian who could not return back to Nigeria due to restriction/ban on international flights. I am in Poland and my flight was scheduled for 31st March, 2020 but could not. I actually tried to access the Form 101 today (8th April, 2020) as directed but was notified on the website that the Form is closed. Is it possible for the webpage to be opened again for us to fill the Form 101?
Thank you.
Dear Sir/Ma,
I so much appreciate you all for having the Interest of Nigerians at heart in this COVID period.
I am a Nigerian citizen, currently stranded in Bangalore, India. My return flight to Nigeria was canceled due to the COVID situation.
Have tried all means to contact the Nigerian embassy here in India, no response.
Have also filled the evacuation form and yet to get a tangible response.
Please, I really need to come back to my small kids at home/lovely family and also to attend to my work duties back home.
Dr. Chuks Patience.
I don’t understand what is going on. Nigeria embassy in china is not picking calls. Many people go there for more information about evecuation of citizens
My Name is Mr OLUOMA BARTHRAM BARRY, I am so happy about this move by Federal Government . It really shows our government has us in mind . I am stranded here in Mannheim Germany since Airlines suspended their flights . It has not been easy staying here with much expenses . I have been indoors observing the rules . I really want to come back to join my lovely family who are worried about my stay here. Thanks so much .

No response to our local embassy emails…. no response to phone calls registration on your site is closed. Are you serious ????
I am Akim Abubakar stranded in Berlin, Germany. I have 2 return tickets with air France May 4 and Egypt air April 23. I have filled the evacuation form online and submitted to you and same to the embassy via email as advised. Alternatively, why can’t the govt give airlines one week window to bring Nigerians back home between April 23 to May 1 since the airport closure is to elapse April 23, because almost every Nigeria stranded overseas has 1 or 2 more return tickets. This saves all the headache for Nigerian govt. The airlines are refusing to make refunds to Nierians at this critical period when they made same to other nationals . Please help us.We are struggling to survive here and host hotels and landlords will definitely throw us out soon.
Top of the day to you.
The comment given by Akim Abubakar is a good one and it would be good for the government to take that initiative. As earlier mentioned by the government that the lockdown was going to be from the 23rd of March to the 23 of April. This would atleast allow Nigerians to return back to their home country using their return ticket thereby not incurring additional cost to the government.
I’m Moshood Shola Ibrahim, stranded in Chicago, Illinois, USA. I’m worried about the covid 19 test, when exactly does the commission want us to do the test because I understand that the result is only good for a period of two weeks. That is, any result tendered after two weeks may not be valid because medical experts say that the gestation period for the virus is two weeks. Please advise me appropriately.
