DIASPORA ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT SUMMIT
Overview
Nigeria’s diaspora community represents a significant reservoir of capital, skills, and international market access. Despite strong interest in investing back home, diaspora investors often face challenges related to project credibility, regulatory complexity, information gaps, and risk perception.
In addition, the summit aims to focus on diaspora businesses and initiatives around the world, showcasing their potential and innovative capabilities as solution providers to Nigeria and the global economy. By highlighting successful diaspora-led enterprises, the summit will position the Nigerian Diaspora not only as investors but also as drivers of innovation, value creation, and sustainable development.
Objectives
The key objectives of the Summit are to:
– Provide a structured platform for engagement between diaspora investors and Nigeria’s public and private sectors.
– Showcase credible, investment-ready opportunities across priority sectors.
– Facilitate partnerships, co-investment arrangements, and deal-making.
– Identify and address barriers to diaspora investment through policy dialogue and practical solutions.
– Strengthen collaboration with financial institutions, development partners, and sub-national governments to support diaspora-led investments.

NIDCOM will provide overall coordination for the Summit, supported by dedicated technical, logistics, and stakeholder engagement committees. A post-summit investment coordination mechanism will be established to track commitments, facilitate follow-up engagements, and support the implementation of diaspora-led investment projects.
