Mr. Gabriel Odu is a Nigerian Media and Communications professional associated with the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM), where he serves in the Media, Public Relations and Protocols Unit.
In this role, he is responsible for managing official communications, preparing press statements, and promoting the Commission’s activities and engagement with Nigerians in the diaspora.
Mr. Odu has been widely credited as a key voice behind NiDCOM’s public messaging, issuing numerous official statements on behalf of the Commission and its Chairman/CEO, Abike Dabiri-Erewa. His work focuses on highlighting diaspora contributions to national development, fostering international partnerships, and strengthening communication between Nigeria and its global citizens.
Before and alongside his work with NiDCOM, Mr. Odu has professional ties with the Nigerian Television Authority, Nigeria’s National Broadcaster, where he has contributed to media and public affairs programming,(particularly, THE Diaspora TV Show), including moderating discussions on diaspora-related initiatives.
He has also played visible roles in national events and policy dialogues, serving as a moderator and communications lead at diaspora-focused programmes such as the Nigerian Diaspora Investment Summit, The National Diaspora Day Celebrations and National Diaspora Merit Awards.
Through his career, Mr. Gabriel Odu has built a reputation as a dedicated communicator committed to shaping narratives around diaspora engagement, national development, and international collaboration.
Just recently in December 2025, Mr. Odu was redeployed as Director, Planning, Research and Statistics Department, in the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission, (NiDCOM), ensuring that NIDCOM’s diaspora engagement strategies are well-planned, data-driven, and impactful for National Development.
