Cornelius Adewale earned a bachelor’s degree in agricultural economics at Nigeria’s Obafemi Awolowo University. Elected national president of agricultural students, he travelled across Nigeria to encourage youth to embrace careers in farming.
The Washington State University doctoral student is creating a smartphone app that will show farmers how to boost crop yields, so that theycan keep their farms and feed more people.
Last October, the Seattle-based Bullitt Foundation awarded Adewale $100,000 to set his plan in motion. Adewale hopes to end the knowledge crisis that cripples farmers’ productivity.
