The Nigeran lady, Zainab Aliyu, who was allegedly caught in Saudi Arabia for drugs related offenses has been released to the Nigerian Mission in Saudi Arabia.
This was disclosed by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Mustapha Suleiman, while briefing reporters in Abuja.
He said that Zainab’s release was as a result of high level diplomatic engagement of the Nigerian Government with the Saudi authorities.
Ambassador Mustapha Suleiman said that the second innocent victim Ibrahim Abubakar will also be released tomorrow.
He noted that through investigation, some members of the cartel that specialize in attaching drugs to innocent people at airport were arrested and will face trials.
The Permanent Secretary reiterated the federal government’s commitment through the ministry of foreign affairs to continue to use all available diplomatic channels to ensure the safety of Nigerians in foreign countries.
