Fresh batch of 418 Nigerians from Saudi Arabia joined others on Wednesday bringing the total returnees to Nigeria to 1071 within three days.
Leading the inter-governmental agencies to receive the returnees, Amb. Bolaji Akinremi, Director, Consular and Legal Department in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said 255 and 398 returnees arrived Nigeria on Monday and Tuesday respectively.
Akinremi said that the reintegration exercise was made possible through the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Mr. Boss Mustapha, to create a smooth rehabilitation process for the returnees.
He commended all other agencies like NAPTIP, Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM) , NIMC, FCT Pilgrims Board and Public Health for their wonderful coordination alongside with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
According to him, the rapid testing method for Covid-19 detection was carried out while the returnees were profiled into states and gender.
As against previous arrangement where each of them will stay in the camp for seven to 14 days , he said the maximum number on camp is three days before they are released to go and meet their family members.
He assured the returnees that the accommodation at the camp has the basic amenities which include a 24-hour medical service to look into the welfare of the returnees before they are joined with their families.
The Ambassador said that a token amount of N20,000 was given to each of the returnees for their transportation while free meals and toiletries were supplied to all of them.
Representing Hon. Abike Dabiri-Erewa, the Chairman NIDCOM, Abdur-Rahman Balogun, Head of Media welcomed the returnees and promised that everything will be done to make them comfortable in Nigeria.
He reiterated NIDCOM appeals to those still wishing to leave the country due to one challenge or the other to have a rethink especially if they do not have any job to do abroad to remain at home and think of what to do for themselves.
Speaking in the same vein, the DG NAPTIP, Mrs Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim, appreciated the efforts of the Saudi Arabia Government to liaise with its counterparts in Nigeria to enable a thorough operation of bringing Nigerians, in Saudi Arabia, home.
She said the Agency is equally profiling all the returnees and counselling them as part of the rehabilitation process.
It will be recalled that more than 1000 Nigerian returnees from Saudi Arabia were evacuated back to the country in January 2021.

Good day,
I would be shunning protocols and formalities for security reasons. My name is Okpekerator and I’m a well meaning Nigerian resident in Libya. I’ll start by saying that most pictures and write ups you see on different social media platforms are nothing compare to what Nigerians are going through here in Libya. My focus is actually on our young Nigerian girls. I have asked myself these questions one too many times; are young Nigerian girls planning to become the next generation bread winners? What in the name of Heavens were they given as information before leaving home to Libya? Are their parents aware of the trip to Libya? And if yes, what on earth will make any parent endorse or support a trip of a girl child between the ages of 13,14,15yrs old……to Libya?
Apparently, there is more than meets the eyes and we must try our best to put a possible end to trafficking of our girls from Kano to Agadez, through the Sahara Desert and to Libya. And en route the meditarannean sea to Europe. You have the power and I have the information. It will interest you to know that I have the some of the names, addresses, pictures, and sensitive information of some wicked Nigerian traffickers who bring these underage girls here, engage and expose them to sexual slavery. I am ready now and would love to work with u from here. Please note that this is NOT me trying to be mischievous neither is my action targeting any particular person but these girls could have been your any of your sister, daughter, or anyone that u know.
Have you ever imagined the risk of having non-consensual sexual intercourse on a daily basis with different men and without the use of any contraception? Talking about different men, I want u to think of the shoe menders u see on the streets of Lagos, the abokis that fetches and sells water, the abokis that hawks goro, sugarcane, and their likes. Imagine their looks, their ways of reasoning, their aggressive nature. These are the hausas from Niger Republic, Fulanis from Chad and Susan and possible fled Book Haram members who perceives Libya to be their own Europe and America. Sleeping with our girls is their greatest achievement ever because our girls are like the Kim Kada, beyonce and Shakira to them. The reason the trafficking can never stop is because the Nigerian Government has impoverished many families in the country with their policies and lootings and so when a family is hungry, they don’t think, read or have access to information. What such families concerns themselves with is how to feed. Also, these traffickers don’t go to cities to source for girls anymore. They now go into villages. The Oba of Benin has done his best by reducing the inflow of Benin girls here so these trafickers now brainwash girls from other places like Delta State and other western States. I am here so I see them in connection houses(brothels) all the time.
You see innocent girls between the ages of 13,15yrs who cannot even express herself in pidgin language let alone English being locked up in a brothel and used as a sex slave. Apparently the parents could not afford to send her to school. These traffickers own and run these brothels and sell these girls upon arrival to their different colleagues……. These are nightmares for heavens sakes. Haba!!! Just like an advert, you need to always dish out news with a subject, Inside Libya on any Blog and newspapers. We can do this. We can help these girls, we can prosecute and bring these traffickers to justice. Most of them get away with this act because no one here cares to go the extra mile to care for these girls. I do. I anticipate your kind response.
